Warehouse421
Located in Abu Dhabi’s historic harbor area of Mina Zayed, Warehouse421 is a must-see museum! It was established in 2015 as a creative hub for local artists to exhibit their work. The exhibits change quarterly, and past shows have included notable themes such as human memory and cultural identity through scripts. Qasr Al Hosn Centre
Viewed as the city’s symbolic birthplace, Qasr Al Hosn was the capital’s first permanent structure and home to the UAE’s ruling Al Nahyan family for centuries. After nearly a decade of restoration, the structure reopened to the public as a museum in 2018. The Inner Fort, or Hosn, was constructed around 1795 as a watchtower for the people who landed on Abu Dhabi island in the 1760s. Sheikh Shakhbut bin Sultan built the Outer Palace in 1939 to function as his majlis (council) and the Al Nahyan family home during winters. Archival material, interactive audio-visual experiences, and archaeological artifacts document the city’s evolution from a fishing and pearl-diving economy to the current glass-and-steel metropolis at the new museum. The House of Artisans holds workshops and demonstrations by Emirati artisans, such as the UAE’s first Bait Al Gahwa, an initiative that allows visitors to taste UNESCO-protected Arabian coffee served traditionally.
